Course Description: This course is intended to assist in preparing for a Small Claims Assessment Review (SCAR) proceeding from the viewpoint of the assessor. Topics that will be covered include the following: requirements for filing, limitations on reductions, how to present at the hearing, dealing with erroneous hearing officers, and relevant case law, to name a few.
Upon completion of this three-hour course, attendees will be better prepared to represent their respective municipality and have a better understanding of the entire SCAR process. Attendees are encouraged to bring any real-world examples for discussion as well.
